Former Indian opening batter and commentator Kris Srikkanth has showered praise on the teen batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for captivating cricketing fans and drawing massive crowds wherever he plays.
Sooryavanshi, who is currently plying his trade for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026 campaign, scored 92 runs off 81 balls in the first innings and a 40-run knock in the second innings against Central Zone to take his side to the grand finale.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth reckoned that Sooryavanshi will bring Test back to its glory with his gameplay. He went on to add that even his wife has started watching the game because of the 15-year-old attacking batter.
“He’s playing outstandingly well. He must be encouraged and never be discouraged. If he’s molded properly, he’ll be a superstar in the making. He’ll bring Test cricket back to its glory. Everyone watched the Duleep Trophy because of him. Even my wife is watching because of him. He’ll be a big asset going forward for World cricket.”
Further, the former Indian chairman of selectors Srikkanth has expressed his confidence in Sooryavanshi playing all formats of the game in the near future. While he has been selected for the forthcoming Afghanistan T20I series, he is currently playing the Duleep Trophy grand finale against South Zone.
“He played incredibly well. How can people even doubt whether this boy on whether he is capable of playing higher-level cricket? He can play every level of cricket, and he is going to rule World cricket shortly in all formats. He’s smashing medium pacers with no worries for straight sixes in red-ball cricket. He’s toying with the bowlers,” he added.
“Once he stabilizes and proves his thing, he’ll be in a different level. He also won the match for them with another valuable knock in the second innings. But he’s getting out in the 90s all the time. He must have missed five centuries just this season,” he concluded.
