Former Indian opening batter Sadagoppan Ramesh has come out in strong support of the veteran Indian opener Rohit Sharma to score a century in the remaining two ODIs of the three-game series against the West Indies, which is currently underway.
While Rohit managed to score only 32 off 35 balls in the 296-run chase in the first ODI in Trivandrum, Kohli mastered the chase, amassing an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls with 10 fours and nine sixes to help India win by eight wickets in just 41.4 overs.
“Just look at India’s last two ODIs. Rohit scores a century in one and Virat in the other. It clearly tells you that these two should be left alone. Also, if one catches fire, it spreads to the other. So, in the remaining two matches of this series, Rohit will also definitely score a century. When one scores a century between these two, the other tries to score one within the next series. This shows that they are clearly feeding off each other and going from strength to strength. They are on fire together,” Ramesh said on his official Instagram handle.
Further, the former opener supported the Indian talismanic No.3 batter Kohli to continue his impressive form in the remaining two ODIs. Interestingly, Kohli became only the second batter after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to reach the 15,000-run milestone in ODIs.
“Kohli has two more innings against the West Indies, and he’ll definitely demolish them before they leave. Both Kohli and Rohit are batting like wounded tigers. I expect at least one century from Rohit or Virat in the final two ODIs,” he added.
The action now shifts to Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, where both sides lock horns in the second ODI of the three-game series on Wednesday, September 30.
