Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has stated that the national team’s tendency to keep chopping and changing personnel ended up leaving them lagging way behind the Indian national cricket team.
Notably, Misbah’s comments came right after PCB sacked head coach, bowling coach and seven players from the side after Pakistan’s two consecutive Test defeats on the tour of England.
Speaking in a local television show, Misbah reckoned that the Indian team has a constant mix of senior players and coaching staff without frequent chopping and changing in their personnel, which helped them to do wonders.
“India took time to process and develop and they made gradual investments in their system after the 90s. There is no quick fix to the system,” Misbah said in a television show.
“Our youngsters are playing too much white-ball cricket and their exposure to red-ball cricket is limited. Not enough four-day cricket. This means they have more chances of cracking under pressure.”
For the unversed, most recently, Misbah resigned from his position in Pakistan’s selection committee after the PCB’s chopping and changing following two Test defeats in the ongoing three-Test tour.
Further, the former Pakistan skipper asserted that the Pakistan fans, critics, media and PCB have a soft corner for foreign coaches while local coaches have to face more scrutiny and criticism.
“It is a fact that local and foreign coaches are treated differently in Pakistan cricket. Local coaches have to face more scrutiny and criticism when compared to foreign coaches,” Misbah said.
“I don’t think there is anything wrong in having foreign coaches but what bothers me is we (fans, critics, media, PCB) tend to have a soft corner for foreign coaches,” he concluded.
