The Duleep Trophy, which will take place at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru from August 23 to September 10, will mark the beginning of Indian cricket’s domestic season for 2026–2027. Six teams—the Central Zone, East Zone, Northeast Zone, North Zone, South Zone, and West Zone—will compete in the competition.
After reaching the final the previous year, Central Zone and South Zone have advanced to the Duleep Trophy 2026–2027 semifinals. In the quarterfinals, North Zone will play West Zone, and East Zone will play Northeast Zone. 5. Harsh Dubey
Harsh Dubey is an exciting left-arm spinner who can hold his own with the bat as well. Dubey has been very good for Vidarbha and has taken 136 wickets in 28 FC games with best bowling figures of 6/36 at an average of 23.55. He is used to bowling long spells, and with 1085 runs, including 9 fifties to go with, Dubey can be groomed to be the right successor to Ravindra Jadeja in coming times.
4. Anshul Kamboj
Anshul Kamboj had a poor India Test debut in England, but he has been a workhorse bowler for Haryana in First-Class cricket. He has 105 wickets in 34 FC games with best bowling figures of 10/49. He is also a handy bat down the order and can hold his own to support the batters. Kamboj will need a very good showing in the Duleep Trophy to impress the selectors and put him back on the path of Indian team selection again.
3. Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh came very close to making his India Test debut in England recently. He is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 135 scalps and is slowly making his way into the ODI team as well. Arshdeep, if he can show good form in red-ball cricket, can solve a huge puzzle for India, that of a left-arm pacer. The Punjab lad has 67 wickets in 22 FC games, with best bowling figures of 6/40. He had impressive stints in First-Class cricket as well.
2. Shahbaz Ahmed
Shahbaz Ahmed has played 5 white-ball games for India, but has also done well in red-ball cricket. He has 142 wickets and 2326 runs in 42 games in FC games. He is a perfect alternative to Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel for the Indian team in Tests. Ahmed has, time and again, done well in the opportunities he has gotten in the IPL as well and has been excellent for Bengal in red-ball cricket. He needs an outstanding season in the Duleep Trophy to break through to the Indian team.
1. Mohammad Shami
The current BCCI selectors and Indian team management might have sidelined Mohammad Shami from international cricket. But there is still some gas left in the veteran bowler. He has 229 wickets in 64 Tests for India and, overall, 377 wickets in 97 FC games. Shami is still going strong in domestic cricket and has shown his fitness as well, giving a signal that he is ready for his next stint with the Indian team.
