Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had another disappointing season in IPL 2026. They finished last on the points table, winning only four games out of 14 matches. Ahead of the IPL 2027 auction, LSG have already traded their captain, Rishabh Pant, to Delhi Capitals and have gotten Kuldeep Yadav in return.
There are several players that LSG might release to lighten their squad and give them some more money in the kitty for the IPL 2027 auction. There are chances that some foreign players might be released, and we see three possible overseas players LSG could let go of.
Here are the 3 overseas players LSG might release ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction:
3. George Linde
George Linde was a backup player added to the LSG squad for Wanindu Hasaranga, who pulled out due to injury. Linde played three games for LSG in IPL 2026 but managed only one wicket with his left-arm bowling. Linde might’ve needed more trust from team management, but it seems he’ll be released by LSG, as they are likely to undergo some transformation after repeated poor performances.
2. Matthew Breetzke
Given the limit of only four overseas players in a playing XI, LSG couldn’t properly use Matthew Breetzke in the IPL 2026. They already have their overseas batting lineup fixed with Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran, and it will be better for LSG to let go of Breetzke and focus on an overseas pacer to support their talented Indian bowling lineup.
1. Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga couldn’t play in the IPL 2026 due to an injury, and it is highly likely that LSG might part ways with the Sri Lankan spinner. LSG already has a brilliant spinner in Kuldeep Yadav, ending their spin woes. They also have Ayush Badoni and Shahbaz Ahmed to support Kuldeep Yadav, and hence, Hasaranga might be released by LSG before the IPL 2027 auction.
