Rajasthan Royals (RR) did extremely well in the IPL 2026, finishing fourth on the points table with 8 wins from 14 games. They made it into the Eliminator, losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the knockout clash. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred for them, with 776 runs, including one ton and five fifties.
With the IPL 2027 mini auction approaching in December, Rajasthan Royals will enter the fray under new owners and management. It is likely that several of the players in the squad will be released before the auction, and we take a look at 3 overseas players that RR might release.
Here are the 3 overseas players RR might release ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction:
3. Kwena Maphaka
Young South African left-arm seamer Kwena Maphaka has played 4 games in the IPL, two for Mumbai Indians and 2 for Rajasthan Royals, picking a total of 2 wickets. Maphaka played 2 games for RR in IPL 2026, taking one wicket, but at an economy rate of 13. With Nandre Burger already present to fulfil left-arm pace requirements, expect RR to offload Maphaka before the IPL 2027 auction.
2. Adam Milne
New Zealand pacer Adam Milne hasn’t been much used in the IPL, playing 11 games across ten seasons and taking 7 gamess. He played just one game for RR in IPL 2026, taking no wickets in 20 balls he bowled, going for 41 runs. RR will most likely part ways with Milne, given that they do not have much for him to do in the franchise and would instead invest in an overseas finisher.
1. Dasun Shanaka
Dasun Shanaka had a decent outing for RR in IPL 2026, playing 7 games and scoring 63 runs and taking one wicket. There were huge expectations from Shanaka, as they felt he would be the finisher they were looking for. Shanaka has done well for Sri Lanka in the recent few games; his T20 record is excellent with over 5000 runs and 131 wickets. But it seems unlikely that Shanaka would be retained by RR for IPL 2027.
