Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made quite a threatening T20 unit in the IPL. They made it into the playoffs in IPL 2026 on the back of some brilliant batting by their fearsome unit and some smart bowling by their young pacers.
However, with the IPL 2027 mini auction upon us, there are chances that SRH might get rid of some overseas players on or before the November 15 deadline to free up some purse for the auction event. Today, we see which three overseas players might feel the axe coming before IPL 2027.
Here are the 3 overseas players SRH might release ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction:
3. Dilshan Madushanka
Dilshan Madushanka got only one game to play in the IPL for SRH and took one wicket for 36 runs. The left-arm Sri Lankan bowler had to fight for space in the bowling unit with his countryman Eshan Malinga, who was preferred over him. There is very little chance of SRH retaining Madushanka for IPL 2027, given they will want to overhaul their bowling unit after what happened in IPL 2026.
2. Kamindu Mendis
Kamindu Mendis was not in action for IPL 2026 and might not survive the axe before the IPL 2027 auction. With SRH spending a bomb on Liam Livingstone and wanting him to be their finisher going forward, expect SRH to release Kamindu Mendis. Mendis has a good record in T20S, with 3054 runs and 30 wickets, and we expect him to find another home in the IPL.
1. Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins’ release might come as a surprise, but the Australian skipper might potentially give the IPL 2027 a miss. This is because Australia is due to tour England for the Ashes 2027, and then there is the ODI World Cup 2027, putting a huge workload on Cummins as a bowler and as a captain. This means SRH will save huge money by releasing Cummins if he doesn’t play in IPL 2027 and bringing in some other, fitter pacer in his place with either Abhishek Sharma or Ishan Kishan captaining the team.
