In the latest ICC ODI Rankings, Indian star batters Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have moved forward. At the same time, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell continues to top the ODI Batting rankings.
Mitchell leads the rankings with 802 rating points, while Gill is at the second rank with 801 rating points after his 188 runs in the three-match ODI series against England away from home, emerging as India’s leading run-scorer in the series.
Kohli retains his third rank with 767 rating points, while former captain Rohit is occupying the fourth spot with 758 rating points. Rohit gained 14 rating points following the hundred in the series decider on Sunday, July 19.
“The noise since I made my debut was there. And till the time I’m going to stay here, it’s always going to be there. So it doesn’t really matter too much,” Rohit told BCCI.tv following the match. “What matters is what I do on the field, try to contribute to the success of the team… If there’s no noise, there’s no fun. My job is inside; their job is outside.”
England No.3 batter Joe Root was the top-scorer in the three-match series, rising four places to eighth after racking up 249 runs without being dismissed. His teammates Ben Duckett (up 11 spots to equal 19th) and Jacob Bethell (up five to 64th) also made notable gains.
In the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings, England ace pacer Jofra Archer surged to the third spot behind Afghanistan’s top-ranked Rashid Khan and Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed.
