On Monday, July 6, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled India’s updated ODI squad for the forthcoming three-match England tour, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, July 14.
It’s important to note that the Indian talismanic batter Virat Kohli, who underwent a fitness assessment at CoE in June after he missed the Afghanistan ODIs at home due to a hamstring strain, has passed the fitness test and has been deemed fit to play the three-match ODI series against England.
For the unversed, Kohli injured his hamstring towards the back end of the IPL 2026 title-winning campaign with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He concluded the IPL 2026 season as the fourth-highest run-getter, scoring 675 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 165.84.
Furthermore, Shivam Dube has replaced the injured Nitish Reddy. Reddy is still in rehab at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) and is expected to recover from his quadriceps injury ahead of the Test tour to Sri Lanka in August. Dube last featured in an ODI way back in July 2024.
India’s ODI series in England will conclude on Sunday, July 19, and they will play the first T20I against Zimbabwe on Thursday, July 23, followed by matches on July 25 and 26, all of them in Harare.
India’s updated ODI squad for the England tour: Shubman Gill (capt), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vc), KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, Shivam Dube.
